What does it take for a multi-billionaire, who made his fortune thanks to his father also being extremely wealthy, to relate to struggling Americans? Apparently, they need only eat pizzas and cheeseburgers, the designated food staples of the common American. Or so the new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci believes.

During an interview on BBC’s Newsnight, the White House Communications Director was asked how Donald Trump was different from the Washington elite class.

“Oh my God, there’s so many things about the president. How about the cheeseburgers, how about the pizzas that we eat?” Scaramucci said.

Reporter Emily Maitlis called him out on the nonsensical statement. “Everyone eats cheeseburgers, pizzas. What are you talking about?”

Anthony Scaramucci then, in a condemning way, said, “you’re coming off a little elitist,” apparently because she also loves cheeseburgers and pizza.

“He knows how to operate in the elitist world and has unbelievable empathy for the common struggle that’s going on with the middle-class people and the lower middle-class people,” Scaramucci said.  “He has something that frankly I don’t have, and it’s embarrassing to me to admit it to you on a live television show.”

Even if President Trump enjoys food that the common American enjoys, he still goes about it in the most elitist way he can. He loves Coca-Cola—so much so that he has a red button on his desk in the oval office to summon a White House worker to bring one to him immediately. Even when talking about cake, he describes it as “the most beautiful piece of chocolate cake” before talking about his decision to bomb Syria.

The problem for President Trump and the Republicans is that “elitist” was used to criticize Obama and the Democrats. Now they have to figure out a way to work with Trump’s blatant elitism. Trying to say that eating a slice of pizza will make him understand “the lower middle class” it’s an insult to our intelligence.
