Climate change denying GOP congressman Brian Babin is trapped in his home due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey.

“I am absolutely trapped in my house,” Babin said from his home in Tyler County, northeast of Houston.

“I don’t have a way to get out until we have floodwaters recede here,” the congressman told CNN’s Jim Acosta.

Brian Babin lives behind a creek that had flooded and blocked his home’s exit, said his family is with him in his home.

“We could not get out unless a helicopter plucks me out of here or I get in my boat and launch it. But we’re fine. These waters are going to recede hopefully sometime this evening, and we’re doing well. This hurricane is of a magnitude that I have never seen before,” he continued.

“I’m from this part of the country. I have seen many tornadoes and hurricanes and flood events. Never have I seen one like this,” he added.

“I’m just one of hundreds of thousands of people in this district and across this part of our state that, you know, are just being affected by this terrible storm,” he said.

GOP congressman has a history of denying climate change, and railed against Barack Obama’s climate policies. Babin also praised Trump’s decision to leave the Paris Agreement.

He also defended Trump when he called Hillary Clinton a “nasty woman” during the 2016 presidential debates, saying, “sometimes a lady needs to be told when she’s being nasty.”
