Earlier this week, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that President Trump would be donating $1 million of his “personal money” to flood victims. On Friday, however, she wasn’t sure exactly if the money would actually come from the President.
The White House Press Secretary Sanders avoided the question when a reporter asked if the million-dollar donation would be “coming from his own money or from the Trump Foundation,”
“He has not finalized where all of that will go, and I was actually going to use that as perfect segue to remind everybody to remind everybody that if you have suggestions that he is very open to hearing those, we’ve gotten a couple, but please send more if you have them,” Sanders said.
As the Washington Post reported before the presidential election, Donald Trump hasn’t donated to the Trump foundation since 2008, and used the “charity” foundation for his own spending as well. If Trump does use his personal money to donate to Harvey victims, it’d be the first time since 2009 that he made any kind of donation.
The promised donation is nothing in comparison to the cuts the president and Congress plan on making to FEMA and organizations that monitor weather changes and hurricane patterns. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is losing $876 million. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration program, which helps coastal states prepare for storms, will have $200 million cut. They’re also cutting $2.6 billion from the Environmental Protection Agency.
President Trump hasn’t actually made a donation yet anyway, it could likely turn out that he won’t end up donating a single penny to the Harvey victims.

the only way you can tell if Trump is lying, is if his lips are moving he is lying. why would he lie about something as serious as the flood and damage, that has happened in Houston to the many thousands of humans who face such a uphill battle to normalize their lives,if he wasn’t going to donate the money why did he say he was? he could actually have a legal tax deduction for once in his life, oh well what would you expect from THE TRUMP?
His foundation is under investigation, so he can’t touch it.
The only reason he would say he would donate his own ?personal money” is to make himself look benevolent, which we all have seen, he isn’t. That his foundation is under investigation shouldn’t matter if it is his own personal money. I don’t have a foundation and when I donate money it comes out of my own personal pocket, not some non profit funded by others’ donations.
