One person is dead and two others are injured after a train carrying GOP lawmakers slammed into a garbage truck on Wednesday.

GOP lawmakers reported only minor injuries, but one person who was in the garbage truck at the time of the crash has already died, while another is severely injured, according to an eyewitness account from Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI).

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), speaking to CNN via telephone, confirmed that at least one person in the truck died. Flake also said that two other people in the truck appeared to be “very badly injured.” He said that the injured people were outside the truck when they were found, and suggested they were either ejected from the truck due to the crash or were already on the outside of the truck when the crash occurred.

Amtrak has released a statement; “An Amtrak train came into contact with a vehicle that was on the tracks at 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, VA,” Amtrak said. “There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members.”
